Excitement is building in Wells as a brand new Lidl supermarket is set to open on the A39 Strawberry Way in February 2025.

This ambitious project not only replaces the existing store but also expands into the adjacent site formerly occupied by Travis Perkins. Here are all the details you need about the new Lidl store in Wells:

What is the size of the new Lidl store in Wells?

The upcoming Lidl store will dramatically increase its net sales floor space from 945 square metres to 1,414 square metres. The total building footprint, including warehouse and ancillary spaces, will be 2,269 square metres.

Where is the new Lidl store located, and how do you get there?

The new store will maintain its accessible location with the existing entrance on Strawberry Way. This prime location near the Strawberry Way roundabout ensures easy access for all shoppers.

What additional facilities will the new Lidl store include?

The new store will enhance its customer facilities by adding 46 extra parking spaces, making a total of 125. This includes three additional disabled parking spaces and 12 new motorcycle spaces. Additionally, there will be electric vehicle charging points to accommodate the growing demand for green energy solutions.

Will the new Lidl store offer any environmental benefits?

Yes, the new Lidl store is committed to sustainability. Solar panels will be installed on the store's roof, designed to minimize visual impact while maximizing energy production. This is part of Lidl's ongoing efforts to reduce its environmental footprint.

How many jobs will the new Lidl store create?

The store is expected to create up to ten new jobs, with the majority being part-time roles. This expansion will provide a boost to the local employment market.

What will the new Lidl store look like?

The design of the new store will be consistent with the modern look of newer Lidl branches, featuring grey cladding, white render, and a reconstituted stone plinth. Additionally, the site will be beautified with soft landscaping, including turf, trees, and shrubs.

Is there any new infrastructure associated with the new Lidl store?

A dedicated cycle way will be constructed to the north of the store as part of the Strawberry Line project, enhancing local transport links and promoting cycling in the area.

The new store is a significant development for Wells, promising to enhance the shopping experience and contribute positively to the community.
