Wells welcomes back the May Charter Fair with open arms and a weekend full of excitement

Excitement is in the air as Wells gears up for the return of the May Charter Fair this Friday, May 3rd. After missing a year due to the King's Coronation, the fair is back with its vibrant mix of fun and community spirit.

The festivities include a Civic Opening and Blessing at 11 am on Saturday in the Market Place, bringing together residents and visitors for a day of celebration.

The fair, organised by Wells City Council and managed by Shaun Rogers for James Rogers and Sons of the Showmen's Guild of Great Britain, will offer a feast of activities from noon to 10 pm on Saturday.

It's the perfect opportunity to enjoy the community's camaraderie with games, rides, and classic fairground treats.

A reminder for drivers: vehicle access to the Bishop's Palace via the Market Place will be limited from 4 pm on Thursday, May 4th, until 1 am on Sunday, May 7th. Pedestrians can still access the palace by foot.
