After intermittent closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Undercroft at Wells Cathedral has reopened its doors to visitors, unveiling a new exhibition that celebrates the cathedral's dedicated staff and volunteers.

Behind the scenes, the cathedral operates through the remarkable efforts of over 80 staff members and clergy, alongside a legion of 360 volunteers.

From guides to gardeners, chaperones to chaplains, and embroiderers to education assistants, these individuals form the backbone of the cathedral's operations.

In the newly launched exhibition, a select few of these extraordinary individuals share their deep-rooted love for the cathedral.

Through a series of stunning boards crafted by Cathedral Carpenter, Tom Burton, visitors are invited to delve into the personal reflections and passions of these dedicated contributors.

Moreover, visitors themselves are encouraged to participate by jotting down their favourite aspects of the cathedral or sketching them on peg boards provided within the exhibition space.

Open to all visitors during the cathedral's regular visiting hours, this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into the inner workings of Wells Cathedral and the profound connections its community members have with this historic landmark.
