Sea Shanty Workshop with Dora Darling
Saturday 12th March – 1.30pm-4.00pm
Join Dora Darling and learn traditional and contemporary folk songs and Sea Shanties from the British Isles, complete with harmonies in the stunning Undercroft of The Bishop's Palace.
A self taught musician, Dora sings and plays the guitar, she also plays the fiddle and the tin whistle, both of which she learnt to play when she lived in Ireland in the 1990's. Dora has written many many songs and tunes, influenced by her magical nature, a love for the Earth and the traditional music of the British Isles and Eastern Europe. Dora has the unusual ability to write songs which sound and feel magical, ancient and traditional.
Sea Shanties are rousing songs with a long history and tradition. They have travelled across the world by the sailors who sang them. They are a joy to sing, uplifting and full of the passions of life at sea.
All songs are taught by ear with words provided.
The Sea Shanty Workshop will take place inside.
Tickets: £12.50.
Each session is 2.5 hours long (includes a small break) and your ticket includes day entry to the Palace and Gardens (opening times 10am-4pm).
