Folk Festival Fun!

It is almost time for Priddy Folk Festival which is held this year on 12th to 14th July. Set across eight stages around the lovely village of Priddy high up on the Mendips, it is proud of its reputation as the friendliest folk festival in the UK. There is a brilliant range of internationally renowned bands, dance sides and workshops with something for every age group. Weekend tickets are still available – this gives access to a ticketed programme packed full of musical treats including Breabach and Gnoss from Scotland, The Haar (Ireland), Sheelanagig, The Fugitives (Canada), the Sam Sweeney Band, Reg Meuross, Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne and Suntou Susso and many more.  Together with comedy (David Eagle), and story-telling (Martin Maudsley), ceilidhs and the wonderful Ford Dimensional 4D Folk Disco, ticket holders are in for a glorious weekend's entertainment. More information about tickets and camping can be found at www.priddyfolk.org

As well as the ticketed programme, there will be lots to do on Saturday & Sunday that is completely free. Watch a dance side in the Market Field or join a workshop with Zimbabwe's Black Umfolosi. Try your hand at maypole dancing, or sing shanties with your family. Explore the fantastic folk arts with Libby Bove's Museum of Roadside Magic, as well as dance demonstrations, sessions, workshops, choirs, and walks.

There will also be an hour of new folk music written & performed by Blue School students under the 'Priddy Rising' banner, which is supported by Priddy Folk Festival funds. The Children, Dance and Fringe Festival are all free so come and enjoy the sun, have some drinks from the festival bars and eat some lovely food provided by our selected food traders.
