Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service receieved a call reporting a strong smell of burning at the above location.

The incident commander confirmed a fire in the kitchen of flat involving one pan on the hob. Two firefighters donned breathing apparatus and extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet and checked for hotspots with a thermal imaging camera. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke from the property.

Location: Wetmoor Lane, Yarley, Wells

One fire appliance from Wells and one from Glastonbury were sent to a report of a vehicle, containing five occupants, stuck in water.
On arrival crews confirmed that the vehicle was stuck in approximately half a metre of water in a ford.  The water was slow moving and so there was no risk of the vehicle being moved.  Fire crews rescued two adults and three children using water safety equipment and a short extension ladder.

Location: A361 at Doulting, Shepton Mallet

2 fire appliances from Shepton Mallet and Wells attended a 2 vehicle RTC, which resulted in one person being trapped in one of the vehicles.

Fire crews worked alongside Ambulance paramedics to stabilise the vehicles, and then the casualty inside, before performing a roof removal, using hydraulic cutting equipment, in order to extricate them. Crews made good and steady progress confirming at 16:38 that the casualty had been released and left in the hands of paramedics. We then made the vehicles and scene safe, before leaving duty of care for the incident in the hands of the Police. The incident is now complete and brought under control at 17:12hrs.
