Wells Little Theatre's next production will be Anne of Green Gables which is a funny and heart-warming play.

On Wednesday, May 29th, at 7.30pm at the theatre there is an open evening for anyone interested in becoming involved in the production, whether that is on stage, behind the scenes or front of house.

Fire crews from Shepton Mallet, Wells and Castle Cary along with the Environmental Protection Unit from Taunton, were mobilised to a report of an ammonia leak at a Premises at the above location.
Fire crews isolated the leak of approximately 600 kilos of ammonia within a refridgeration system using breathing apparatus wearers, gas tight suits and thermal image cameras.  There was no impact to the environment from the leak.

The Bishop's Palace Country Garden Festival celebrates its fifth year this summer and will once again take over the splendid grounds of The Bishop's Palace in Wells from 14th-16th June.

The 14 acres of RHS partner gardens will be at their absolute peak; with parterres filled with the scent of myriad roses and dramatic borders aflame with summer colour, all set among the medieval ramparts of the ancient Palace and its famous well pools.

Avon and Somerset Police appealing for dash cam or mobile phone footage following two incidents near Wells.

The first incident happened on 30 April on the A371 in Westbury-sub-Mendip. A black Vauxhall Vectra swerved onto the opposite side of the road into the path of a black Toyota RAV4 just after 8.30am. The vehicles did not actually collide.

Location: Old Wells Road, Chantry, Frome

One fire appliance from Frome, one from Shepton Mallet and the Rescue Tender from Trowbridge were sent to a report of a road traffic collision at the above location.
On arrival crews confirmed that the incident involved one vehicle and that one male person was trapped.  Fire crews released the casualty using stabilising equipment, wire strops, ratchet straps and a telehandler. The injured man was taken to hospital by air ambulance.  Police also attended.
