Wells Market has been selected to host this year's Young Traders Market South West Regional Final on Thursday 25 July.

Young traders from across the South West will gather in Wells to trade at a market organised by the National Market Traders Federation (NMTF).

This term, Wells Cathedral School has been delighted to welcome and host talented young cricketer, 16-year-old Sahil Jadhav.

Sahil plays for the junior Mumbai team, is a member of the prestigious Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket Academy in Mumbai, and was named as one of the most promising under-14 cricketers in India.

The teams of doctors and nurses who run the on-site medical centre, clinical services and pharmacies are preparing to be busy with pop fans who may mis-judge the effects of heat. 

The unique charity which provides medical services for Glastonbury Festival is celebrating its 40th year on site.

Festival Medical Services' teams of volunteer doctors, nurses and health professionals offer full emergency medical services, plus other healthcare services such as dentistry, podiatry and physiotherapy, in its on-site "hospital" area and most types of treatment can be safely delivered in situ.

Cash-strapped Somerset County Council is asking the voluntary sector to help them support people living with dementia and their carers.

They have given modest grants to two Wells charities because they can provide such services cheaper.

Two fire engines from Shepton Mallet and Wells as well as a rescue vehicle from Glastonbury were sent. The RTC involved 2 vehicles. The fire crews used cutting equipment to remove the roof of one car to release one person. Police, Ambulance and local authority highways also attended. There were a total of 3 persons involved in the incident, these were left in the care of the Ambulance Service. These are the final details.
