A THEATRE producer from Wells will bring the critically acclaimed play Soldier On to her home city as part of the Wells Theatre Festival in July, straight from two sell-out seasons in London's West End and a national tour.

The cast is made up of army veterans performing alongside professional actors, bringing their own experiences of recovering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Through a mix of storytelling, music and dance, the play explores what really happens when military personnel leave the army.

NEARLY 7,000 comedy fans packed shows at all six venues at this year's Wells Comedy Festival.

A total of 6,954 tickets were sold for nearly 70 shows that took place in Wells Little Theatre (main house and rehearsal room), Cedars Hall, Tramways, The White Hart and The Venue.

WELLS Neighbourhood Watch is launching a major drive to increase its coverage of the city's residential areas.

As part of the new initiative, a Wells Neighbourhood Watch public meeting is being held on Tuesday, July 9, at Wells Little Theatre in Chamberlain Street, starting at 7.

30pm.

Everyone is welcome to attend to listen and to have their say, and there will also be a guest speaker, retired police dog handler Pete Chaplin.

A Wells songwriting duo are performing at this year's Glastonbury Festival following the release of a successful single earlier in 2019 that used video selfies of real people up and down the country singing the song's title, Harmonise, into their phones.

Lorraine and Jeremy Millington, a.k.a The Portraits, whose 2017 tribute song for Jo Cox MP was championed by Clare Balding on BBC Radio 2, put out an appeal on social media for the public to contribute to the new song, a call for unity during these troubled times, and were inundated with entries.
