Congratulations to singer/songwriter Hetta Falzon, from Wells, whose song Obsession has made it through to the top three songs shortlisted for the finals of the Song Academy's Young Songwriter of the Year, 13 to 18 year UK/Ireland category.
This year's competition attracted more than 700 entries from aspiring young songwriters across the world, with a wide variety of genres, from folk to jazz, soul, rock, punk, reggae and pop.

Luxury handbag maker Mulberry, which has its headquarters in Chilcompton, announced this morning (June 8) that it is going to cut 25 per cent of its workforce as it can only see a gradual recovery of its sales.
The job losses are expected to have a big impact on the Chilcompton site - sources told Wells Nub News that affected staff members were told on a video call at 10am this morning.

Public Health England statistics have revealed that Mendip has the second lowest coronavirus infection rate in England.
The area, which covers Wells, has a rate of 56.6 cases of coronavirus per 100,000 people, and there have been a total of 65 cases in the district since the crisis began.
Since the Government instructed cafes to shut, Daniel's Cafe in Wells has been working hard to ensure it reopens with a fresh new look and new additions to the menu.
While the cafe side will remain closed until they are able to reopen it, the sandwich bar is now able to operate.
A horse and its owner were rescued from a water-filled ditch in Godney this afternoon (June 7).
