Corsham 0 - Wells FC 4 The Les Phillips Cup:

Corsham took the early initiative when a dangerous Corsham free kick from the left hand side evaded everyone before fizzing across the Wells goal, begging for a Corsham touch. After early Corsham pressure Wells took the lead with their first attack after great defensive play by Char Crook to win the ball back before he finds Craig Herrod, still with a lot to do Herrod drifts inside of two defenders and caresses the ball back across the keeper and into the far corner of the net.

Corsham responded with a great through ball by Ali Mayoh which set Wickens through but the ball is just cut out by some brave goalkeeping by Harley Wilkinson making his debut in goal for Wells, who read the danger thwarting the first effort and then reacts to get back up and save the rebound.

Tenacious work by Harvey Hadrill saw him beat a defender before forcing Alex Avenell into a good save before Harry Foster gets to the loose ball and his shot is somehow blocked off the line by a last ditch tackle.

With 26 minutes gone Tom Hill did brilliantly to release Herrod whose ball into the box from the right was half-cleared to the edge of the box where Hill continued his run and swept the ball brilliantly into the far corner giving the keeper no chance. 2-0 to Wells.

Minutes later a strong, late challenge by Corsham's Ashley Alchin on Ross Padfield saw the referee produce a red card and Corsham go down to 10 men.

Wells continued to press their advantage in the run up to half time. A great ball by Kieran Davis found Hill who laid it off to Foster but Avenell does well to smother it and prevent another Wells goal.

Corsham retaliated when Wells switched off at the back and a clever ball by Nick Chandler finds Bright who lifts the ball over the bar when one on one with Wilkinson.

Typical bullish work rate from Hadrill saw him win the ball back high up the pitch and plays the ball to Herrod, he then turns the defender inside out before hitting the far post.

In the second half great link up play between Hadrill, Foster and Brett Cotterill saw Cotterill unleash a rocket from 25 yards that the Avenell does well again to tip over.

A Herrod corner fell to Ben Amghar from 15 yards but his half volley goes well over.

A venomous strike from 30 yards by Herrod hit the bar and Foster follows in and first time smashes the ball past the keeper from 20 yards. Wells 3, Corsham 0

72 minutes Wilkinson with a precision long ball feeds Hadrill who's effort smashes the post yet again.

A pin point ball from Lee Cox on the left got Hadrill behind the Corsham back line and this time he deservedly got his goal as he calmly slotted the ball under the advancing Avenell to seal the victory.

Game finished Corsham 0-4 Wells.

After the opening 10 minutes a very professional performance from Wells who grew and grew into the game and towards the end were unlucky not to add to their tally, the red card didn't help Corsham and they'll feel until that point they could have got themselves back into the game. Wells now progress into the next round of the Les Phillips Cup, draw yet happen.

Another big game for Wells Saturday as they travel to the form team in the league Longwell Green in what should be a cracking game, 15:00 kick off.
