Two roads in Wells will be closed later this month for pedestrian crossing works, Somerset Council has confirmed.

Southover will be shut from Monday, 26 January 2026, for two days. The Cloisters will then close from Wednesday, 28 January 2026, also for two days. Both schemes are being delivered by Kier on behalf of Somerset Highways.

The council says access for emergency services will be maintained during both closures.

The works are covered by Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs), which become effective from 21 January 2026. Notices have been issued with reference numbers ttro974489E (Southover) and ttro079227E (The Cloisters).

Residents seeking further information are advised to contact Somerset Highways on 0300 123 2224, quoting the relevant reference.
