A new 100-home development in Wells will open its first show home this spring, with construction now under way between Elm Close and Burcott Lane.

The estate, called The Elms, is being built by David Wilson Redrow South West and will offer a mix of three‑, four‑ and five‑bedroom homes, just a five‑minute walk from the High Street.

Forty per cent of the homes will be affordable housing, and the developer has pledged £840,000 in local contributions to support infrastructure and facilities.

Sales director Louise Ware said: "The Elms is set to be a highly sought‑after development. With energy‑efficient homes, great location and excellent amenities, we expect strong interest from buyers."

The scheme includes a new junction on Elm Close, a cycle lane, three pedestrian crossings, and upgrades to two existing footpaths. A play area for children will also be created as part of the site.

The development lies close to the A371 and offers quick access to the A39, linking Wells to Bristol, Bath and the M5.

The show home is expected to open in the coming months, with completions phased through 2026.
