Wells Pride 2026: what you need to know

Wells Pride returns on Saturday, 8 August, with a full day of events across the city centre.

Now in its third year, Wells Pride 2026 will include brunch, a meet-and-greet, a parade from Cathedral Green, live entertainment at the Recreation Ground bandstand and evening celebrations at The Sheep and Penguin.

The day begins at The White Hart on Sadler Street, where people can gather from 10 am to midday for brunch and a meet-and-greet with Alisha B, who will host the day's events.

From midday, people will assemble on Cathedral Green with the long rainbow flag before processing down High Street and across to the Recreation Ground and bandstand. Organisers say this year includes the first road closure for Wells Pride, making it the event's first chance to parade fully out in the open through the city centre.

People joining the parade are being encouraged to bring bright costumes, banners, whistles and drums. Visitors are also being invited to look out for rainbow decorations in High Street shops.

Entertainment at the bandstand starts at 1 pm, with singers, dancers and speakers booked through the afternoon. The line-up includes Gurt Dog, James Harriman, Violent May and The SinicTones.

There will also be a small market, with Valentine's Coffee due to attend. The Wells Pride stall will include raffle donations from local businesses including The Crimson Finch and Flapjackery.

From 8 pm, the celebrations will move to The Sheep and Penguin on Tucker Street for a Kiki, with organisers promising a chance to relax and try special Pride cocktails after the daytime events.

Wells Pride is organised by the Wells Pride Committee and supported by Wells City Council, with the Pride flag expected to fly from the town hall. This year's event is sponsored by Wolf Barbers.
