Two writers set to appear at this year's Wells Festival of Literature have been recognised in the UK's leading science book prize.
Masud Husain, a neuroscientist, won the 2025 Royal Society Trivedi Science Book Prize and £25,000 for Our Brains, Our Selves.
Fellow festival speaker Tim Minshall was also shortlisted, receiving £2,500 for his book Your Life is Manufactured.

Husain's work explores the stories of seven patients with brain disorders that altered their sense of identity, interwoven with his own experiences of moving to the UK as an immigrant in the 1960s. Judges described it as "a beautiful exploration of how problems in the brain can cause people to lose their sense of self."
Minshall, Professor of Innovation at the University of Cambridge, was praised for his exploration of global manufacturing, tracing how everyday items like smartphones and jeans travel the world and consume vast resources before reaching consumers.
Husain will appear at the Wells Festival on Monday 20 October at 6pm, followed by Minshall on Saturday 25 October at 2pm.
