House prices rise in Wells but fall in Glastonbury and Street, new data shows

Wells has seen house prices rise over the past year despite falls in neighbouring towns, according to new figures from the Land Registry.
The average price of a home in Wells in the 12 months to July 2025 was £377,391.70, up from £370,078.60 the previous year. That represents an annual increase of 1.98%.
By contrast, Glastonbury (BA6) recorded a fall of almost 6%, with the average price dropping from £353,369.90 to £332,479.20. Street (BA16) also saw a slight decline of 0.66%, with average prices moving from £292,095.10 to £290,155.10.
The biggest local rise was in Shepton Mallet (BA4), where average prices climbed by 9.21% over the year, from £326,512.90 to £356,576.40.
Across Somerset, Wedmore (BS28) was the most expensive area to buy a home, with an average price of £605,789. The cheapest was Yeovil (BA21), where homes sold for an average of £243,508.
The figures highlight Wells as one of the few parts of Mendip to see growth in the past 12 months, as prices in several nearby areas fell.
