Vikings & Archery Day

Kickstart the summer holidays off in style at the Palace.

Archery and Vikings! What more could you want?

Draca Beordor Viking Age Re-enactment is an award-winning living history and combat display group based in Somerset. We pride ourselves in educating people about life in the 9th and 10th Centuries, portraying people from across the Viking world. Our living history team will show you the forgotten skills of the Viking Age craftspeople, from making linen and dyeing cloth to silver-smithing and carpentry, whilst our fierce warriors will amaze you with the combat skills and weaponry that made the Vikings feared.

Wells City Archers will be shooting their arrows into targets within the grounds of the Bishop's Palace all day.

They will be demonstrating their skills with different types of bows and having a bit of friendly intra-club rivalry as they see who can get the highest score. The competition has been titled the Maria Eden shoot after the daughter of former Bishop of Bath & Wells, Lord Auckland (1854 – 1869), who was recorded as being a keen longbow enthusiast.

Alongside the Wells City Archers will be IndigoArcherywho will be running 'Have a Go' sessions where you can try your hand atarchery (£3 per person)

Admission: There's no additional charge for these events which are included with any standard admission ticket, including Membership. All full-price Bishop's Palace Admission Tickets include access to The Bishop's Palace and Gardens for 12 months (excluding some special events).
