THE new music wells 78-18 celebration of music will take place from October 12-18.

She will be in conversation with fellow composer Michael Berkeley on Wednesday, October 17, in Quilter Hall (Wells Cathedral School), and will give a public composition masterclass in Cedars Hall on the afternoon of October 18.

Admission to all these events is free.

THE Somerset Poppies, a remembrance event involving nearly 4,000 children, takes place this November at The Bishop's Palace, Wells.

The poignant and moving display will be free to view between November 11 and 25, and poppies are available for sale, to pre-order for £5, at www.

uk Dan Vidler, a teacher at Coxley School, who is organising the project, believes that children of all ages should have the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of remembrance through participation, reflection and research.

He said: "Wearing a poppy each November is important, but for many children, that's where their involvement ends.

AN eclectic line up of authors at the 26th Wells Festival of Literature includes Max Hastings talking about Vietnam and Ed Stourton on the BBC during the Second World War.

Bishop Peter Price will talk on Conflict Resolution and John Gray on Seven Types of Atheism.

In the 200th anniversary year of Women's Emancipation, Lara Feigel tells the story of Doris Lessing, one of the first 'Free Women', and Anne de Courcy talks about the invasion of 'Husband Hunters' from America.

Today, Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Somerset County Council announced a series of public drop-in sessions across the county to hear from local people about the kind of health and care service they'd like to see in the future.

She said: "We really do want to hear what local people think. We all have a stake in health and care services and it's important we all work together to shape the best fit for the future so come along to a drop-in event near you! I look forward to seeing lots of people over the coming weeks."

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from Avon and Somerset Police reporting a Road Traffic Collision with persons trapped at the above location.

On arrival the officer in charge confirmed that a single vehicle had been involved in a road traffic collision, and one male of approximately 30 years old was still inside the vehicle and semi conscious.
