WELLS photographer Neil Bremner is celebrating after winning a prestigious competition entered by some of the most talented photographers from around the UK and Europe.

The Made Portraits studio owner has won a number of awards over the past six years but this is the first time he has taken top spot in an annual competition.

Location: North Chine Drove, Godney nr Wells

2 fire appliances from Street and Glastonbury, together with a water carrier from Bridgwater, were mobilised following a call from a farmer saying they had a an amount of hay on fire in their barn.

Within minutes of the first crew arriving they confirmed this to be the case and set to work extinguishing what turned out to be 6 tonnes of hay involved, inside an open sided metal barn.

Crews made steady progress dragging out the hay, turning it over and damping down, whilst constantly checking for hotspots with a thermal imaging camera. By 21:16hrs the incident was under control and the fire, which started accidentally, was extinguished. Crews used hose reel jets, compressed air foam, drag forks and a thermal imaging camera. The fire was contained to the contents only and duty of care has been left the land owner.

Location: Cheddar Moor Road, Clewer. Wedmore

One Fire Engine from Cheddar, Wells and a Rescue Tender from Glastonbury were all sent to a report of a car that had crashed into a property with possibly somebody still in the vehicle.
On arrival crews confirmed that one private vehicle had collided with a domestic property. The driver of the vehicle was removed from the vehicle prior to the Fire Service attendance. A structural engineer was requested to make sure the building was safe. Fire crews also used props to secure the building. The vehicle was then removed from the building via a winch.
A small gas leak was confirmed and the gas board attended to isolate the mains. The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital by Ambulance.

Location: St Marys Street Axbridge

Fire Control received a call from a passer by who noticed what appeared to be flames coming from a top window of a property at the above location this morning.
One fire engine Cheddar, one from Wells and one from our Burnham On Sea fire stations were mobilised to the incident.
Fire Control received further calls which reported that flames were seen coming from the roof of the property. Fire Control made the decision to also mobilise an Aerial Ladder Platform appliance to assist with roof access.
On arrival crews confirmed that there were no persons in the property and the surrounding properties had also been evacuated. Smoke was confirmed to be coming from the first floor of the property and crews set to work with fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus to enter the property, one hose reel jet, one safety jet and a thermal imaging camera.
At 12:36 crews confirmed that a further hose reel jet was also in use and that the initial seat of the fire was now extinguished. Crews continued to check for further seats of fire and awaited the arrival of the Aerial appliance to assist in check the roof area.
At 12:44 crews confirmed that all seats of fire had been extinguished and were using the Aerial appliance to remove some roof tiles to check for any hot spots.
At 13:28 crews confirmed that fire fighting action was now complete but crews were still at work with the Aerial appliance and safe working at heights equipment to replace some of the removed roof tiles to ensure the property was weather protected.
Crews confirmed the cause of the fire to be accidental and confirmed the fire started in a first floor bedroom.
All crews have now left the scene and these are the final details.

Location: Broad Cross, Shepton Mallet

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call reporting a fire at the above location.

On arrival the incident commander confirmed a fuse box within the property on fire. Crews promptly got to work with four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jet, three carbon dioxide fire extinguishers and one thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
