Tesco in Wells is recruiting customer assistants as part of an employment drive to help the supermarket chain keep up with demand in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
The Wells store is advertising for customer assistants during normal hours and night-time/twilight hours, on 12-week, part-time temporary contracts.

Wells has gone into effective lockdown this evening (March 23) following Prime Minister Boris Johnson's nationwide TV broadcast in which he laid down stringent new rules in a bid to battle coronavirus.
The lockdown was announced on the day the number of confirmed cases in the UK rose to more than 6,650, and the number of deaths reached 335, according to the latest figures available.
Just to let you know that any students who are not registered to attend Strode College can access support, advice and guidance remotely via their online college accounts.

Setting sail as the Pirates of the Panto they raised the roof at the village hall. Pirates of the Panto, starring Steve French as swashbuckling Captain Zac Sparrow, was panto gold.

A new recycling scheme in Wells will still be rolled out on time despite the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
The Somerset Waste Partnership (SWP)'s Recycle More scheme will see refuse collections reduced to once every three weeks as more items can be recycled at the kerbside.
Pick up your pens you poets, writers weave the warp and weft of your words and enter the Wells Festival of Literature's Competitions.
There are cash prizes to be won for your poetry, short stories and books for children. We are pleased to have secured a notable judge for each genre this year.
Strode College in Street says it is starting to receive guidance on how students will be graded by central government and the exam bodies.
Following the government announcement that summer exams are cancelled, the college says it will keep students updated as staff receive more information.
