Primary schools and nurseries recognised for creative gardening in city-wide competition

Wells City Council has announced the winners of this year's Wells in Bloom Schools Competition, thanking all the participating primary schools and pre-school nurseries for their efforts.

Every entrant received a certificate and a garden voucher to be used at Browne's Nursery, which co-sponsored the 2025 competition alongside the Bishop's Palace and Wells City Council.

Wookey Primary School took top honours, winning both the wheelbarrow competition and the overall School Gardens category. Explorer's Nursery also secured a win for their wheelbarrow display. Wookey Primary received the Wells in Bloom Shield in recognition of their achievement.

Judging for the event was carried out by volunteers Linda Thomas and Jo Stevenson, who were thanked for their time and support.

As part of the competition, the Bishop's Palace hosted a workshop for participating schools. Children from Cuddles and Care nursery are pictured receiving their certificate at the event.
