The Bishop's Palace and Gardens in Wells will host the return of its "Somerset Poppies" display this autumn, timed for Remembrance commemorations.
The installation will be on show from Thursday, 6 November to Wednesday, 19 November 2025 in the Inner Gardens near the Well House. It features hundreds of metal-stemmed poppies retained from the original 2018 project, which marked the centenary of the end of World War One.
Originally, 7,986 poppies were created by local schoolchildren to represent each Somerset life lost during the conflict. Some were later sold to raise funds for SSAFA and the Royal British Legion, while 2,000 were kept for ongoing annual displays.
This year's installation will be placed by project founder Dan Vidler, supported by Bishop's Palace staff and volunteers. The poppies have been displayed in different garden locations each year since the centenary.
The display is included with standard entry to the Palace and Gardens.
