Wells police seek owner of jewellery seized after burglary
By Laura Linham 25th Mar 2026
Police are trying to trace the rightful owner of several distinctive items of jewellery seized alongside property later identified as stolen in a burglary linked to Wells.
Avon and Somerset Police said jewellery taken from a house in Wells in November 2025 was spotted for sale online by the owner's family the following month. Officers then seized those pieces, which have since been returned, along with other items from the Bristol area.
They are now appealing for help to identify the owner of more jewellery recovered at the same time.
Among the items highlighted by police are two cameo-style pieces depicting women's faces, a pair of white metal earrings showing a dancer on a blue background, and a gold-coloured bracelet made up of oblong links with white metal hearts and crosses.
Investigating officer Chantelle Gibson said: "Being burgled is a horrible experience, and jewellery often has a sentimental value which makes it irreplaceable.
"We really hope someone will recognise these items and come forward."
Police said anyone who believes the jewellery may belong to them can make a claim online, but proof of ownership will be needed before any item is returned.
Officers added that anyone who has already made an insurance claim for an item would also need to inform their insurer.
Enquiries into the burglary are continuing, and police said identifying the rightful owners of the jewellery could help the wider investigation.
