Wells Cathedral will host the Somerset Festival of Remembrance on Saturday 1 November 2025, from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Organised by the Somerset County Royal British Legion, the evening will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and honour the service and sacrifice of Somerset's wartime generation.

The programme will include music from the Central Band of the Royal British Legion and the Yeovilton Military Wives Choir, alongside tributes from veterans, cadet forces and civic leaders.

Highlights will feature the parading of the Somerset Book of Honour, an Act of Remembrance with a poppy drop, and a presentation reflecting Somerset's role in the war.

The event will be hosted by former BBC broadcasters Clinton Rogers DL and Ali Vowles DL. Organisers say the evening is open to all and is expected to be one of the last major commemorations attended by living veterans of the conflict.

All proceeds will support the Royal British Legion and Wells Cathedral. Tickets are available now via Eventbrite.
