Photographs of Black Lives Matter protests in Somerset and London are going on display at Wells Cathedral next week.

The exhibition, A Celebration of Demonstration, runs from Monday, 3 February to Sunday, 1 March 2026, and features powerful images from London activist Wayne Campbell and Somerset photographers Jason Bryant and Len Copland.

It's part of a new anti-racism programme at the cathedral, organised in partnership with the Somerset African Caribbean Network (SACN) under the theme Resistance, Racial Justice and Reconciliation.

Susann Savidge, chair of SACN, said: "We have co-curated this exhibition as an opportunity to reflect back on the Black Lives Matter protests and marches that took place nationally and locally in 2020, following the tragic death of George Floyd."

Mr Campbell and racial justice leader Richard Reddie will speak at the preview on Sunday, 2 February, focusing on civil rights, resistance and unfinished business.

Other events at the cathedral this month include:

  • A Racial Justice Sunday service on 8 February, led by The Revd Canon Sonia Barron, former co-chair of the Church of England's Anti-Racism Taskforce
  • An evening of talks on 25 February exploring the legacy of transatlantic slavery and reparative action, with speaker John Dower from Heirs of Slavery

Dean of Wells, the Very Revd Toby Wright, said the cathedral is committed to seeking social justice and "amplifying voices that are often less heard".

Entry to the exhibition is included in standard cathedral admission.
