Drivers in Wells are being warned of a temporary road closure in January as pedestrian crossing works get underway on College Road.

The closure will take effect for two days from Wednesday, 15 January 2026, allowing contractor Kier to complete works on behalf of Somerset Highways. The legal order for the closure becomes effective from 7 January 2026.

Access for emergency services will be maintained throughout the closure, but all other traffic will be diverted while the works are carried out.

The pedestrian improvements are part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades being delivered across the city.
