Visitors to Wells Cathedral should check schedules, as parts will close for events in late September and October.

Visitors to Wells Cathedral are being asked to plan ahead as a series of services and events will limit access to parts of the building in the coming weeks.

The Cathedral has confirmed that the Lady Chapel, Quire, East End and Nave will be closed at different times in late September and October. These include funerals, weddings, a Readers service, and Strode College's graduation ceremony on Saturday 18 October, which will see the entire site closed from 8.30 am until midday.

Organ tuning will also take place on several dates, including Tuesday 7 October, Monday 10 November and Wednesday 17 December. The Cathedral has warned this may be disruptive for people sensitive to loud sounds, including those with hearing aids, children and dogs. A peal attempt on the bells is scheduled for Saturday 29 November.

Regular closures continue, with the East End closing at 4 pm Monday to Saturday in preparation for Choral Evensong at 5.15 pm, while Sunday visiting hours run from 11.45 am to 3 pm following morning services.

The Cathedral has reminded visitors it remains a working church, and while services are open to all, certain areas may not always be accessible. A full and regularly updated list of restrictions is available on its website.
