Students at The Blue School in Wells are celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results this week, marking a significant achievement after years of disruption to their secondary education.

Despite the national uncertainty surrounding this year's results, around a quarter of all grades at The Blue School were at 7+ (equivalent to A/A*), with early indications showing that the students' progress is well above the national average.

Headteacher Mark Woodlock praised the students for their resilience, saying: "We are immensely proud of this cohort of young people. Their maturity and dedication throughout such challenging times is reflected in these positive GCSE grades, and they should feel a great sense of achievement. These results will open doors for their next steps in education and careers."

Mr Woodlock also highlighted the personal stories behind the grades, adding: "As always, the headlines only tell part of the story. It's been our privilege as staff to support these students through the hurdles they've faced and help set them up for the next phase in their lives. We congratulate each and every one of them on their success."

He also extended his thanks to all those who have supported the students over the years, including parents, carers, and the wider community.
