Nurture Wells moves to make pet visits less stressful
By Laura Linham 18th Mar 2026
Nurture Veterinary Hospital in Wells is moving to make visits less stressful for pets and their owners, setting out a calmer approach to appointments.
The focus is on reducing anxiety from the moment animals arrive, using quiet spaces, gentle handling and more time in the consulting room.
That shift is aimed at pets which can find check-ups, treatment and hospital visits unsettling. Rather than a rushed in-and-out appointment, the emphasis is on helping animals settle first, then building confidence through a quieter and more considered approach.
Cats are a big part of that picture. Nurture Veterinary Hospital runs cat-only clinics every Monday from 2pm to 4pm through the Nurse Hub entrance at the rear of the hospital in Wells, alongside separate waiting areas away from dogs and dedicated cat spaces designed for comfort and recovery.
Dogs are also included in the lower-stress set-up, with separate areas and staff trained in canine-friendly handling. Smaller pets have not been left out either, with rabbit care also forming part of the hospital's wider focus on tailoring treatment to different animals and their needs.
One of the clearest changes is time. Nurture offers 20-minute consultations, giving owners longer to raise concerns before a full examination and treatment plan is discussed.
Taken together, it marks a clear push towards making veterinary care feel less daunting for pets and the people bringing them in.
