Readers of Wells Nub News have picked The Full Moon as their favourite pub for 2026 after voting in the comments on social media. The Wells pub drew repeated backing from readers, who called it the best in town and made it clear it remains a firm local favourite.

Supporters were emphatic in their praise. Comments included "has to be The Full Moon Wells", "hands down", "definitely" and "The Full Moon has to be the best", with readers repeatedly naming it as their standout choice.

The City Arms was another major contender, with supporters praising its service, live music and atmosphere. One reader said it was the winner "hands down", while another highlighted the fact it has "no fruit machines or in your face TVs", suggesting its simpler pub feel helped it stand out.

The Crown at Wells also featured strongly in the discussion, with readers pointing to its history, its dog-friendly welcome and its link to the film Hot Fuzz. More than one voter singled it out for its atmosphere as well as its place in the city's pub scene.

The Sheep and Penguin also drew warm praise, with supporters highlighting its beers, food and accommodation. One reader described it as "Wells finest", while others simply named it as their top pick.

Elsewhere, readers backed a wide range of pubs and clubs across Wells and nearby villages. Ring O' Bells in Wookey was praised for its food, beer, value and "best drinking atmosphere around", while the White Hart won support for its beer, music and staff. Tramways, the Wells Conservative Club and Kinger and Rosie were also named by readers.

Taken together, the comments showed readers are looking for more than just a pint when choosing their favourite local. Atmosphere, friendly staff, live music, food, well-kept drinks and a strong sense of community all came up again and again.

For Wells, the result offers a snapshot of what matters most in 2026. Readers backed venues that feel welcoming, full of character and rooted in the local community — and this time, The Full Moon came out on top.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the vote on Wells Nub News.
