Wells Carnival 2024 winners are revealed ahead of final procession in Glastonbury tonight.

The results for the 2024 Wells Carnival have been provisionally announced, with Huckyduck Carnival Club securing another victory in the Tableaux Mounted Open category. Their Brunel-themed tableau maintained their winning streak, placing them firmly on course to win the County Cup for a sixth consecutive year. Pentathlon Carnival Club's Outlaws claimed second place in the category, followed by Wills Carnival Club's depiction of Roald Dahl's Imagination. Oasis Carnival Club rounded off the top four with their America-themed entry.

In the local tableaux category, King William Carnival Club emerged victorious with their creative Pop Up Library entry. The feature-mounted entries also impressed, with Gremlins Carnival Club reclaiming the top spot in the Open Feature category with Beatlemania. This closely fought victory came after a narrow loss at Shepton Mallet earlier in the week. Masqueraders Carnival Club's Step Right Up followed in second place, while Ramblers Carnival Club's Pinball, the Shepton Mallet champion, finished third. Renegades Carnival Club's The Manor was placed fourth in a strong showing.

The local feature-mounted category saw Globe Carnival Club take first place with Driven by Precision, with Wick Carnival Club's Bourbon Street taking second. Mendip Vale Carnival Club's Super Bowl 24 secured third place, while Shambles Carnival Club's The Siege took fourth.

Comic and juvenile entries brought their own flair to the carnival. Newmarket Carnival Club's Tour de Somerset was awarded the best comic feature, outshining entries from Nunsford Nutters, Cary Comedians, and Luckington Carnival Club. Rubalo Junior Carnival Club won the Juvenile Feature class with their dazzling Birds of Paradise display, with Hillview Junior Carnival Club's Country Kidz and Marina Sydenham Junior Carnival Club's Carnivale de Mardi Gras following closely behind. Next Generation's Bugsy Malone rounded out the category.

Masqueraders added to the spectacle across both adult and juvenile groups. Bridgwater Belles topped the adult or mixed group category with Totally Bonkers, while Sue Hill Dance stole the show among juvenile groups with Don't Stop Me Now. In the mixed groups, ABC Carnival Club took first place with their rendition of Beatlemania, followed by the AOC Peach Family with Things That Go Bump.

Among the pairs entries, A&A Carnival Club stood out with their innovative take on The Time Machine, narrowly beating Krodie Carnival Club's Pandora and DeeGees Carnival Club's Send in the Clowns. Jacks Carnival Club took first place in the single masquerader (adult) category with Ragtime, while Little R won the juvenile category with Silver Ball. Bubbles Carnival Club's Egyotopia was awarded first place in the single or pairs with wheeled props category.

With the final carnival procession of the season set to take place tonight in Glastonbury, the winners of the entire circuit will soon be confirmed. Carnival enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the final results, which promise to wrap up another memorable season in spectacular fashion.
