PCC Mark Shelford held a thank you reception for the local people that volunteer to support the work of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).

The event, which was held on Thursday, April 14, took place at Police Headquarters and volunteers attended from the Independent Residents Panel, Independent Scrutiny of Police Powers Panel, Out of Court Disposals Panel as well as the Independent Custody Visitors.

Volunteers were treated to tea and cake, and the event provided a long overdue opportunity for the PCC to thank volunteers directly for the critical role that they all play in improving accountability and public confidence in policing.

PCC Mark Shelford said: "It was brilliant to meet with our volunteers and thank them for all their hard work. The volunteers' adaptability and willingness to still provide an excellent service despite challenges relating to the pandemic has not gone unnoticed. I look forward to continuing to work with our volunteers as they support me in ensuring Avon and Somerset Police is efficient, effective and legitimate."

Following the event, many volunteers have written to the OPCC to say how much they enjoyed the event and meeting with other volunteers from different panels.
