An official film has been produced to give a flavour of how Somerset celebrated The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The film was commissioned by the county's Lord Lieutenant , Annie Maw CVO – and a copy will be sent to Her Majesty.

The Lord Lieutenant Annie Maw said: "We are all so proud of what Her Majesty has achieved in 70 wonderful years and we wanted to have on record something to show how our county marked this historic occasion."

The film has been produced by former BBC Correspondent and now Deputy Lieutenant of Somerset, Clinton Rogers. It features material he has gathered, plus contributions from members of the public in all corners of the county and both BBC and ITV.

Navy Wings, based at RNAS Yeovilton, also helped, supplying footage taken from historic Naval aircraft which flew over the south of the county when beacons were being prepared

Clinton said: "It's been an absolute joy to produce and I think it gives a real flavour of how Somerset came together in such a joyous way. It is full of colour and atmosphere."

There are pictures of street and garden parties, beacons being lit, city, town and village celebrations as well as trees being planted as part of The Queen's Green Canopy Project to commemorate her jubilee.

The plan is for a copy of the film to be held in the county records office in Taunton, so future generations can see how the Platinum Jubilee was marked in Somerset.
