Jobs in Wells this week: bins, brushes, buses and balance sheets

By Laura Linham   24th Oct 2025

Career change or casual scroll? Either way, Wells is dishing up a solid spread of jobs this week. From the depot floor to the office desk, there's something here for early birds, night owls and anyone who can convincingly nod through a Zoom call.

Grab your overalls or iron your best shirt — just don't call anything an "exciting opportunity" unless it comes with a pension and working radiator.

Here's what's up for grabs:

If you've got a WAMITAB under your belt (or just know what one is), there's a Waste operations and site manager – DK Recruitment is seeking a manager to oversee waste stock levels, supervise site operations and ensure compliance with legislation and health and safety. Waste management experience and a WAMITAB qualification are preferred.

Meanwhile, a Shunter fueller is wanted to shift buses around the depot, refuel, clean, and check for damage. You'll need a PCV licence and the ability to navigate a bus yard without causing drama.

If you're more into the rubbish than the transport, there are two roles at the recycling yard: Recycling warehouse operative and Picking line operative. Both involve sorting materials, following health and safety, and accepting that PPE will be your new best mate.

Painter wanted for a refurbishment job that involves lime washing and sash window TLC. Thorn Baker is hiring, and you'll get weekly pay and parking if you can handle a paintbrush and keep your radio to a respectable volume.

Alternatively, if you prefer gears to gloss, there's a HGV Class 2 waste and recycling driver role up for grabs. It's kerbside collection work, £16 an hour, and your reversing skills will finally be appreciated.

Office types, this one's for you. Accounts and credit control coordinator needed by JLA to help keep their infrastructure empire running smoothly. You'll chase invoices, sort ledgers, and try not to scream at overdue payments.

If you're a bit further along in your finance career, there's a spot for a Senior accountant at a local practice, working across VAT, tax returns and QuickBooks — all the glamour.

There's also an Assistant centre manager job at Premier Automotive, helping to keep the wheels turning and customers from combusting when they hear the price of tyres. Expect mentoring staff, stock management, and a lot of nodding while pretending the printer isn't jammed again.

Zen Educate is looking for both a Supply teacher and Teaching assistants to step into classrooms as needed. You'll need to bring patience, a decent pen, and the ability to survive Year 8's collective meltdown over a surprise test.

That's the Wells week in work. For more local jobs — from the sensible to the slightly surreal — head over to the Wells jobs board.
