A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "While it is positive to see an overall reduction in reported crime, we remain committed to tackling violent offences and theft-related incidents, which continue to impact businesses and residents. Our officers are working closely with local businesses and community groups to prevent crime and ensure Wells remains a safe place to live and work.
"We encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to us. Anyone with concerns can contact us via 101 or report anonymously through Crimestoppers."
Despite the drop in overall crime numbers, police say they are continuing their efforts to reduce shoplifting and violent crime in the area.
