A Wells student is organising a Jumble Trail for bargain hunters with at least 40 stalls across the city this Sunday for charity.

Martha Garstang is raising money for The Prince's Trust to support disadvantaged young people into education, employment or enterprise.

One of the stalls will be manned by a boy who won a Wells City Council award in January for kindly selling some of his toys to raise money for the Lawrence Centre charity which supports older people.

"I am taking part in The Prince's Trust Million Makers Challenge as a part of my graduate programme," said Martha who went to the Blue School. "Each graduate has been assigned a £1,000 individual fundraising target and I'm organising a Jumble Trail around Wells on Sunday from 10am-3pm."

This community event is similar to a car boot sale but it takes place in your neighbourhood. Households come together and set up stalls outside their own homes to sell their unwanted goods. People could also sell homemade goods if they wish.

Stallholders will donate £6 for their stall which will go directly to The Prince's Trust. Any money they take on the day is theirs to keep.

"Currently we have at least 40 stalls participating in the trail which will be a fantastic turnout. The stalls will feature on a jumble trail map which is being designed by a local artist, Hellen Cooke.

"The map will be available to download from our Facebook page Wells Charity Jumble Trail or shoppers can buy a paper map outside the Portway Annexe in Wells from 9am on Sunday September 15. Shoppers can follow the map going around each stall and pick up some bargains."
