An immersive light and sound show bringing the spectacle of the Crown Jewels and Coronations to life is coming to Wells Cathedral

This weekend, Wells is set to host an array of events that promise to delight locals and visitors alike, weaving a rich cultural tapestry with offerings of music, history, and an immersive light and sound experience.

The festivities kick off on Friday, February 23rd, with an opera gala at Cedars Hall, featuring the internationally acclaimed Hera Hyesang Park.

Having graced the stage of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Park is bringing her extraordinary talents to Wells, performing a selection of beloved opera arias and songs from her native South Korea, part of a unique weekend dedicated to vocal masterclasses and workshops. Simultaneously, The Bishop's Palace will transport guests back in time with its Medieval Banquet Night. Attendees will experience a night filled with medieval merriment, complete with a roaring log fire, a welcome drink, and a three-course medieval-themed banquet. Saturday, February 24th, will see Wells Cathedral resonate with the sounds of The Queen Symphony, performed by the Fulltone Orchestra. This classical piece, inspired by the legendary rock band Queen, is a six-movement symphony that offers a sensational musical journey. The cultural offerings continue into the next week with Luxmuralis: Crown & Coronation at Wells Cathedral, starting Monday, February 26th, through March 2nd. This immersive light and sound show will bring the spectacle of the Crown Jewels and Coronations to life, with more information available here.

Additionally, Wells invites the community to enjoy Snowdrop Month at The Bishop's Palace Gardens, engage in sustainable living practices at Repair Saturday at Wells Library between 10am and 12.30pm, and enjoy live music with The Spies at The Full Moon between 2pm and 4pm.
