Wells Gears Up for a Festive Extravaganza with Its Annual Christmas Market

The festive spirit is set to soar in Wells as the city's beloved Christmas market makes a grand return on Saturday, 16 December. It's the time of the year again when the historic Market Place and Bishop's Palace Green transform into a vibrant hub of holiday cheer and shopping splendour.

Over 100 stalls are gearing up to offer an array of unique treasures and mouth-watering festive treats. Visitors can immerse themselves in the charm of this medieval city, enriched with the joyful tunes of The Grey Dogs jazz band and the trumpet melodies of Martin, adding a musical sparkle to the festive air.

Highlighting the day's festivities, Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts and Wells Town Crier, Len Sweales, will unite under the watchful gaze of the Bishop's Eye. Their speeches and the ceremonial ribbon-cutting will officially kickstart the market's bustling activities.

Cllr Smith-Roberts shared her enthusiasm: "The Christmas market is a highlight in our city's calendar. It's a joy to open it each year and invite both visitors and locals to revel in the festive spirit. Our traders, regular and seasonal, are eager to showcase their products. Let's support our small businesses and create lasting memories with our families and friends at this wonderful event."

The Wells Christmas Market, organised by Mendip Markets at Somerset Council, promises an unforgettable experience from 9am-3pm. For the latest updates, follow the festivities on Facebook and Instagram at @WellsChristmasMarket or visit somerset.gov.uk/christmasinwells.
