The Wells Community Network is looking for new volunteers to join its Trishaw scheme, which provides free rides around the city for residents who may have difficulty getting around on their own.

The scheme, which uses an electric-assist trishaw bike, offers a unique way for those with mobility issues to enjoy the sights and sounds of Wells, providing an opportunity for them to stay connected with the community.

The project is run by a cheerful team of volunteer 'pilots' who take passengers on gentle rides through the city's picturesque streets. The trishaw, which is specially designed to accommodate those who find it difficult to walk long distances, ensures that everyone has a chance to experience the beauty of Wells, even if they're not as mobile as they used to be.

One of the current volunteers described the experience as "enormous fun, very rewarding, and a wonderful way to spend an hour or so." The scheme is also a great way for volunteers to give back to the community without requiring a big time commitment. Because the trishaw is equipped with electric power, volunteers don't have to worry about being super fit to get involved—anyone who is able to pedal a bike can take part.

The organisation is currently looking for more volunteer 'pilots' to join its team. New recruits will receive full training, and there's no need to commit to specific times—the schedule is completely flexible, allowing volunteers to help out whenever they have the time.

For those interested in learning more or signing up, further details can be found on the Wells Community Network's website.
