Wells is set to get into the festive spirit this December as the much-loved Christmas market returns to the city. Organised by Somerset Council's Mendip Markets team, the event, titled 'Christmas in Wells', will take place on Saturday, 14th December, from 9am to 3pm, offering a day packed with seasonal fun and festive shopping.

The market will be spread across Wells Market Place and the beautiful Bishop's Palace Green, featuring over 100 stalls selling everything from handcrafted gifts and local produce to unique decorations and delicious food and drink. Visitors can enjoy mulled apple juice and a range of festive treats, accompanied by live music and family-friendly entertainment, making it a perfect day out for the whole family.

Councillor Federica Smith-Roberts, Lead Member for Communities, Housing, and Culture at Somerset Council, expressed her excitement for the event. "We are thrilled to bring the successful festive market back to Wells for a day of Christmas shopping and entertainment," she said. "Our teams are working hard to ensure the market is a seasonal highlight for residents, visitors, and local businesses."

The Wells Christmas Market is an important tradition in the city, not just for spreading festive cheer but also for supporting local businesses. The market provides a crucial opportunity for small traders to showcase their goods at a time when community support is needed the most. Cllr Smith-Roberts highlighted that Wells markets play a vital role in sustaining the city's vibrant atmosphere, adding: "The Christmas market is a fantastic way to celebrate and support our communities and businesses."

Visitors are encouraged to stay up to date with the latest news about 'Christmas in Wells' by following the event's social media pages on Facebook and Instagram at @WellsChristmasMarket or by visiting the official Somerset Council website.
