Wells has been named the second-best place to live in Somerset by the lifestyle website Muddy Stilettos.
It was pipped by Frome, who took first place in the reader's poll.
The women's lifestyle website creates a 'best places to live' list each year for England and breaks it down regionally.
The 10 listed entrants for Somerset were ranked by Muddy Stilettos voters as follows:
1. Frome
2. Wells
3. Somerton
4. South Petherton
5. Langport
6. Clevedon
7. Castle Cary
8. Bruton
9. Wedmore
10. Wellow
Singing Wells' praises, Muddy Stilettos wrote: "England's smallest city is fast becoming the South West's go-to place for festivals with annual food, comedy, theatre and literary fests."
They highlighted the number of places where you could get a good meal, the mixture of chain shops and independent shops in the city, the beauty of the cathedral and Bishop's Palace, and the sheer amount of culture available.
