The Wells branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) is bringing back its annual Poppy Appeal, with stalls and collections set to run in the city from Saturday, 26 October, through Saturday, 9 November.

As in previous years, the RBL will have a stall at the Wells Saturday market on 26 October, 2 November, and 9 November. Volunteers will also be stationed in local supermarkets—Waitrose, Tesco, and, new this year, Morrisons—during the appeal period. Poppies will be available at shops and venues across Wells, encouraging local residents to show their support.

Those interested in helping out with the collection can email [email protected] or sign up directly through the RBL website. Volunteering is open to everyone, not just RBL members.

All proceeds from the Poppy Appeal support the Armed Forces community directly. Local organisations can also order wreaths from Alistair or via the RBL's online shop.

The Remembrance Service will take place on Sunday, 10 November, at St Cuthbert's Church, followed by wreath-laying at the war memorial and a parade up High Street. A Remembrance Day ceremony will also be held at the Conduit in Market Place on Monday, 11 November, at 11 am.
