Wells roads to shut for major surface dressing works

Road closures will affect Easton Hill and Haybridge Hill near Wells from 15 to 17 May for Somerset Highways resurfacing works.

Drivers near Wells are being warned to expect disruption this weekend as Somerset Highways carries out surface dressing works on Easton Hill and Haybridge Hill.

The temporary closure affects Easton Hill, Haybridge Hill to Easton Hill and Haybridge Hill in St Cuthbert Out.

The works begin on Friday, 15 May and are expected to continue until Sunday, 17 May between 9.30am and 3pm each day.

Contractors Kiely Bros will carry out phased surface dressing works, including road lining, stud removal and renewal, and the application of Kiely Lock treatment on behalf of Somerset Highways.

The affected stretch covers around 2.4 kilometres.

Wells City Council said the road will reopen outside working hours, with diversion routes signed on site using solid diamond symbols.

The council also warned further closures may be needed at a later date.
