Residents and families at Crandon Springs Care Home in Wells, Somerset, enjoyed a nostalgic and uplifting afternoon recently as the fabulous D Day Dollies performed a special wartime-themed show to commemorate VE Day.

The talented due, dressed in authentic vintage costumes, delighted residents with a lively rendition of wartime classics and well-loved uplifting songs. Complete with dance routines, singalongs, salutes and photo opportunities, the performance brought smiles and memories to everyone who attended.

Residents were thrilled to meet the performers afterwards, posing for photos and joining in the celebratory spirit of remembrance and community.

Darius Ivana, General Manager at Crandon Springs Care Home, said: "Events such as this are important to our residents, many of whom have personal memories or family connections linked to wartime experiences. For example, Greta and Robert are both age 101. Greta recalls seeing a cat rescue her kittens from the rubble after bombing in Bristol, and Robert helped extinguish fires by throwing buckets of sand from the top of St Johns Church in Glastonbury where he could see the bombers flying up the channel and fires in Bristol.

"Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, and sparking memories and emotions. The D Day Dollies gave us a great performance and it was lovely to see so many residents singing and smiling throughout the show."

The event formed part of the ongoing programme of life enrichment activities at Crandon Springs Care Home, aimed at promoting wellbeing, social connection and meaningful experiences for residents.

Crandon Springs Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK's largest care providers.
