The Bishop's Palace and Gardens in Wells will once again be transformed for Christmas as its popular "Sparkle" illuminations return next month.
From Friday, 29 November 2025 to Saturday, 4 January 2026 (excluding selected dates), visitors can enjoy late-night openings with the historic gardens lit up from 5 pm to 8 pm. New features this year include a lantern tree, extended light tunnel, and additional woodland lighting.
The medieval Palace itself will also be decorated using seasonal foliage from the grounds, with a roaring fire in the Entrance Hall and the return of the popular Schools Eco-Exhibition.
Live music, Father Christmas, and festive food and drink will add to the seasonal atmosphere during selected evenings. The event is included with standard admission, though visitors are advised to check for exclusions and book early.
Merryn Kidd, CEO of The Palace Trust, said: "Our Christmas Illuminations are always a highlight of the year. Paired with the decorated Palace rooms, they offer a fun and memorable way for families and visitors of all ages to celebrate the festive season in Wells."
