The Wells Lantern Parade is set to light up the city on Saturday, 18 January, promising a magical evening of music, lanterns, and community togetherness.

Organised by The Project Factory, the event will mark the end of their January lantern-making workshops. The parade will begin at Wells Cathedral at around 6.15pm, where participants will gather before following a band on a scenic route through the city's historic landmarks.

The procession will move around the inside of the Cathedral before heading outside the West Door, circling the Cathedral Green, and passing through Penniless Porch and the Bishop's Eye into the Bishop's Palace. The parade will then return to the Market Place, where hot soup and live music will greet attendees.

Victoria Payne from Wells Community Network (WCN) encouraged local residents to get involved, emphasising the need for volunteers to help ensure everyone stays together and safe throughout the event.

Those able to assist on the evening are asked to email Victoria at [email protected].
