Residents invited to have their say on new Wells skatepark design

By Laura Linham 8th Jan 2025

Wells residents are being encouraged to share their views on the proposed design for a new skatepark near Waitrose, with a consultation open over the Christmas period.

The initial plans were presented in November at Wells Town Hall, where nearly 50 wheeled sports enthusiasts gathered to hear from Russ Holbert and Ian Jennings of Maverick Skateparks, the design and installation specialists behind the project.

The pair explained that the site's sloping topography made it one of the most challenging they had worked on, requiring a design adapted to fit the natural fall of the land. Their concept, which uses concrete and covers around two-thirds of the existing space, aims to make the most of the area without the costly removal of the current tarmac.

The consultation is open throughout the Christmas period, giving residents the chance to provide feedback and help shape the final design. To view the plans and submit comments, visit maverickskateparks.co.uk/wells.
