Wells has racked up quite a few honours recently, but eyebrows were raised when the Daily Express crowned it the UK's best town—illustrated, rather puzzlingly, with a photo of Richmond Cathedral.

The commendation was actually based on a Which? survey from last September, which had already celebrated the -city- of Wells for its historical allure and cultural importance.

Published in the Express on 23rd April, the article lavished praise on Wells, citing its medieval charm and the cinematic fame brought by "Hot Fuzz". but also used a picture from a completely different locale.

Exactly why this seven-month-old news made national headlines with a geographical blunder remains a mystery.

Wells proudly continues to bask in its well-earned spotlight, despite the media mix-up.
