A ceremonial date brick has been unveiled at the Adam Lock Lodge development in Wells, marking a key stage in the retirement scheme's construction.

Deputy Mayor of Wells Cllr Denise Denis and Cllr Deborah Orrett attended the ceremony at the Churchill Living site on West Street, which will provide 47 flats for over-60s.

Following the unveiling, the councillors visited residents at Churchill's nearby St Athelm Lodge, where they spoke with owners and staff.

Adam Lock Lodge is due to open next year and will offer one- and two-bedroom private apartments with shared facilities, including a lounge and guest accommodation.

Jo Ridehalgh, from Churchill Living South West, said it was "wonderful" to welcome the councillors and share a conversation with residents.
