Wells will be transformed into a festive hub this Saturday, 6 December, as the 2025 Christmas Market takes over Market Place and Cathedral Green from 9am to 3pm with more than 100 stalls confirmed.
This year's market promises one of the city's biggest seasonal events yet, with dozens of food traders, drinks stalls, gift sellers and local makers taking part. Visitors can expect handmade crafts, jewellery, homewares, festive decorations, and a huge variety of local food and drink.
What food and drink will be on offer?
Street food includes smash burgers, Caribbean hot meals, samosas, Thai-style desserts, vegan bakes, and Yorkshire pudding wraps. Drinks traders will offer mead, rum, gin, bottled cocktails, spiced wine and bubble tea. Local producers include Bath Soft Cheese, Somerset Charcuterie, Olive and Ginger Cakes, and White Lake Cheese.
Who's selling gifts and crafts?
More than 60 stalls will offer handmade goods ranging from jewellery and ceramics to soaps, candles, children's toys, resin art, dog treats, upcycled woodwork and seasonal home décor. Many sellers are Somerset-based and known for eco-friendly, small-batch and unique items.
Where is it happening?
The market is split between Wells Market Place (outside the Town Hall) and Cathedral Green (in front of Wells Cathedral). Live entertainment and music will run throughout the day in both locations.
How to get there and where to park
There is no parking at Cathedral Green or Market Place during the event. Visitors are advised to use the following:
- Long stay: Palace Fields, Princes Road, Priory Road, Tucker Street, Whiting Way (Waitrose)
- Short stay: South Street, Union Street
- Free (time-limited): Morrisons, Tesco
- Accessible parking is available at city car parks but spaces are limited. Arrive early and allow extra time.
